Help Shape What Comes Next: Are you the neOperations Manager at Buxton Mornington Peninsula

How do you make a business easier to work in and easier to do business with?

That is the challenge at the heart of our Operations Manager role at Buxton Mornington Peninsula.

We are looking for an experienced operations professional who is passionate about making businesses work better. Someone who can see where systems, processes and technology could be improved, then turn those opportunities into practical solutions that support people, clients and business growth.

Working closely with our leadership group and teams across the Mornington Peninsula, the Operations Manager will help shape the operational foundations of our business and create better ways of working.

What does an Operations Manager do in a real estate business?

An Operations Manager helps ensure the systems, processes and workflows behind a real estate business operate efficiently and consistently.

At Buxton Mornington Peninsula, the role will take ownership of the operational systems and processes that support our sales, property management, administration and client service teams.

The focus is not simply on keeping things running. It is about identifying where work can be simplified, improving how information and tasks move through the business, and creating systems that make it easier for our people to deliver an exceptional experience.

What will the Operations Manager be responsible for?

The Operations Manager will review and improve the systems, workflows and procedures used across our offices and departments.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Improving operational systems, workflows and processes
  • Identifying opportunities to simplify and streamline the way we work
  • Creating greater consistency across offices and teams
  • Supporting the effective use and adoption of technology
  • Developing clear operational procedures and documentation
  • Working with leaders and team members to identify challenges
  • Implementing practical solutions that people can confidently use
  • Ensuring operational improvements support a seamless client experience

The successful applicant will be comfortable moving between strategic planning and practical implementation. They will be able to understand the bigger picture while also paying close attention to the details that influence how work is completed each day.

How does an Operations Manager improve a business?

A strong Operations Manager looks beyond individual tasks to understand how people, technology and processes work together.

They ask questions such as:

Is there a simpler way to complete this process?

Are different offices or departments approaching the same task differently?

Is technology being used effectively?

Are procedures clearly documented and understood?

Does this process create the best possible experience for our clients?

Once an opportunity is identified, the Operations Manager works with the people involved to develop a practical solution, introduce it clearly and support its ongoing use.

Successful operational improvement is not just about creating a new process. It is about creating a better process that people understand, value and use consistently.

What experience is required for the Operations Manager role?

We are looking for someone with proven experience in an operations focused position and a strong understanding of how a real estate business operates.

Knowledge of the complete real estate client journey is important, as the role will support systems and processes across multiple areas of the business.

Applicants will require:

  • Proven experience in an operations focused role
  • Strong knowledge of real estate operations and the client journey
  • Experience using Box and Dice
  • A current Agent’s Representative Certificate or Full Estate Agent Licence

Knowledge of Mac computers and Apple products will also be considered an advantage.

What qualities make a successful Operations Manager?

The right person will be organised, reliable and responsible, with the ability to balance immediate operational needs with longer term business priorities.

They will naturally look for better ways of doing things and will be confident questioning processes that no longer serve the business effectively.

Just as importantly, they will know how to turn ideas into clear, practical solutions.

This role would suit someone who is:

  • Curious about how businesses operate
  • Comfortable identifying areas for improvement
  • Confident working with leadership and team members
  • Able to communicate changes clearly
  • Experienced in implementing systems and procedures
  • Focused on both efficiency and the client experience
  • Capable of managing detail without losing sight of the bigger picture

This is not a role for someone who simply maintains what already exists. We are looking for someone who will question, improve, build and evolve.

Why is operations important to the client experience?

Many of the systems that support a great client experience operate behind the scenes.

Clear communication, accurate information, consistent processes and effective technology all influence how smoothly a client’s property journey unfolds.

By improving the way our business operates, the Operations Manager will help our people spend more time supporting clients and less time navigating unnecessary complexity.

Better operations create a more consistent experience for everyone who interacts with our business, including sellers, buyers, rental providers, renters, suppliers and team members.

What is it like to work at Buxton Mornington Peninsula?

Across the Mornington Peninsula, our offices operate as one connected business.

Our people share knowledge, experience and resources, while maintaining strong relationships with the communities and clients they serve.

We have offices in Flinders, Sorrento, Mount Eliza and Balnarring, with our head office based in Flinders. The Operations Manager will work across various Mornington Peninsula locations, supporting teams throughout the business.

As Buxton Mornington Peninsula continues to evolve, this role will play an important part in shaping how we work and supporting what comes next.

Who should apply for the Operations Manager position?

This opportunity would suit an experienced real estate operations professional who enjoys solving problems, improving systems and helping businesses perform at their best.

It is ideal for someone who wants to have a meaningful influence on how a growing real estate business operates, rather than simply stepping into an established routine.

If you are passionate about operations, real estate and creating better ways of working, we would love to hear from you.

Please send us your CV and a brief cover letter introducing yourself, explaining why the role interests you and sharing what appeals to you about joining Buxton Mornington Peninsula.
